The Breville Express Espresso Machine Review

The Italian-made Breville Express is considered to be one of the best espresso machines on the market, and for good reason: you ultimately get full control over the brewing process. For starters, you’ll have 16 precision grind settings to experiment with via its adjustable grind size dial. And when it comes to managing the digital water temperature, you’ll guarantee your espressos are optimally extracted every time. As for the latte lovers amongst you, the stainless steel 360-degree steam wand grants you the freedom to texture microfoam milk to create stunning art while elevating the resulting flavor of your cup.

We offer the Breville Express for purchase in-stores and online with its iconic brushed stainless steel look.

With this espresso machine’s 1600-watt thermocoil heating system, it’ll be up and ready within a minute, perfect for quicker caffeinated pick-me-ups. It pre-wets coffee grounds with its low pressure pre-infusion. Then the shot gets pulled via a high pressure 9 bar extraction process from its 15 bar pump.

While it may not be the most budget-friendly option, you’ll easily save at least a couple hundred dollars with its built-in stainless steel precision conical burr coffee grinder.

Fair warning: this machine comes with a bit of a learning curve, especially considering you’ll need to practice dosing, extracting, frothing, grinding, and tamping. Fortunately, the cleaning process is a breeze with its removable bean hopper, water filter, and water tank. There’s even a handy Clean/Descale light to help you keep track of your machine’s maintenance, which is crucial.

It also comes with 4 filter baskets: two single wall filters, and two dual walled ones. The smaller ones are meant for single shots of espresso whereas the larger ones are for double-shots. If you’re a beginner, or just not feeling up to doing the extra work, use the pressurized baskets to avoid having to worry about dialing in a shot by adjusting the grind amount or any other settings. But, if you’re willing to give it a try, the non-pressurized baskets will yield richer, higher-quality shots with perfectly creamy cremas.

If you have the budget for it, are curious to master the art of espresso brewing, and are in the market for a quality burr grinder, then the Breville Express may be just the thing for your needs.
