Rio Azul Cooperative:
Founded in 167, Río Azul is located in the remote western Guatemalan town of Jacaltenango, and all of the members are of the Mayan group Jacaltec.
Farmers live no more than a 1.5 hour walk from the wet mill, which allows for Rio Azul Coop to be able to give careful attention each step of the way. Coffee is picked early in the day, and the cherries are brought to the wet mill, where is de-pulped, fermented and washed and then spread out to sun-dry on the adjacent patios.
Coop Coffees has been partnered with Rio Azul since 2009. To learn more about Rio Azul, please check out their profile information here.
