Now Hiring: Marketing & Outreach Support - Summer Internship/Co-op Position
Equator Coffee Roasters is an Ontario-based, mission-driven coffee roasting company from the friendly town of Almonte, Ontario. About:
- Summer Internship or Co-op Position
- 16 week placement starting May1
- Based out of Almonte Roastery - Vehicle Required to Visit other Cafes and Off-Site Events.
- Eligible work placements must be a requirement as part of the student's college or university study plan. This can include co-operative education, internships, field placements and applied research projects. The work placement as part of the student's study plan will be verified when confirming student eligibility.
- The Outreach and Marketing Intern will provide support to our Website Manager and Outreach Coordinator to promote coffee sales through new and existing channels.
Tasks in support of the website include:
- Developing strategies, creating and running promotions to increase website sales
- Spearhead product launches on the website
- Reviewing web analytics reports to track website traffic and activity levels over time, monitoring trends & adjusting
- Managing website’s content, including writing new content, editing existing content, and removing outdated content
- Identifying opportunities for website improvement based on user feedback and performance metrics
- Developing and implementing effective SEO strategies to improve website rankings in search engine results pages (SERPs)
Tasks in support of Community Outreach and Marketing include:
- Follow and build on an existing strategy and social media posting calendar for Equator’s social media engagement, including: Video and Image Content for Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Tiktok, Youtube
- Public Relations and Community Engagement
- Grow and expand Equator’s community presence by securing and coordinating media interviews for Equator’s leadership team members and creating Press Releases. This will involve maintaining a list of key media contacts in the Ottawa Valley and proactively proposing new story ideas on Equator’s people and products synchronized with seasonal and event-driven items in the posting calendar.
- Coordinate and support customer loyalty programs
Event Coordination
- Festival and Event Participation, including coordinating booths, providing product and offering product demos and tasting and planning Equator-hosted/sponsored local events, such as:
- Coffee-oriented events such as barista competitions, cupping events, etc
- Community-oriented events such as fundraisers, live music, trivia nights, educational sessions, etc
- Plug in to wider coffee community - barista competitions, SCAA, brewer cups, bloggers, coffee review, etc
Other Duties
- Be generally helpful and willing to step in where needed in the office, warehouse, and/or cafes
- Bag coffee if and when needed
- Answer phones/inquiries if and when needed
- Support café staff if and when needed
Qualifications:
- College or University education in Marketing and/or Hospitality and Tourism
- Team player, helpful and motivated
- Organized – good time management and ability to multitask
- Positive, warm, friendly attitude willing to go above and beyond!
- Must have a vehicle and valid driver’s license.
Terms and Compensation:
- Hours: full time (35-40 hours per week)
- Length: 16 weeks (co-op)
- Wages: $17-19 / hour depending on experience/abilities
